On September 26, 2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Austin Rios conducted an unannounced inspection to conclude the investigation of the above allegation. LPA Rios met with licensee Joanna Valdes and explained the purpose of the inspection. Licensee and LPA Rios conducted a tour of the home inside and out. There were three children present.

The department obtained an allegation that licensee is denying care stating children are sick. Investigation included interviewing complainant, licensee, and parents of children in care as well as obtaining the policies licensee has in place for when children are sick. None of the staff or parents interviews corroborated the allegation. Parents indicated they are satisfied with the precautionary measures that licensee has put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and other illnesses. Parents indicated licensee provided protocol for Covid before enrollment and if child was showing symptoms that picking up child would be needed.

LPA observed Covid-19 and other sicknesses pre-cautions being met. Although licensee did call for child to be picked up and or not let in for day care that day, there was documentation to show a high fever and symptoms for the when it occurred. Although these allegations may have occurred, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violations did or did not occur, therefore, the allegation listed above is deemed UNSUBSTANTIATED.
