25 | Application Specialist (AS) Alecia Sifuentes met with Director of Early Childhood Education Rahele Atabaki for the purpose of an announced change of location inspection. Licensee is not making any changes to the licensed capacity of 24 preschool children age two to entry into kindergarten. The program is located at Virtual Academy School. Director is not changing the name of the facility due to occupying the space for only one year while Westfield Village Elementary School is being remodeled. The program will operate Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The facility will provide breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.
AS reviewed with Director the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child’s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted.
INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There is one preschool classroom located in room 93A. AS observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, chairs, and cubbies. There is a first aid kit in the classroom cupboard. Medications will be stored in the nurses office. AS observed cleaning disinfectants are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. AS observed a water fountain in the classroom. AS observed a functional dual smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the classroom. AS observed an electronic sign-in/sign-out system.
AS measured classroom 93A. The total classroom space contains a total of 1,354 square feet, which will accommodate Licensee's request for 24 preschool children. There are two toilets and two sinks for the children, and a separate private restroom for the staff. One toilet is located in the kindergarten classroom. Director has requested a Shared Bathroom Waiver. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the nurses room and will use the staff restroom, if necessary.
