25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jill Nakagawa arrived unannounced at E & J Griffin Family Care Home on November 3, 2023 to conduct an annual inspection. All 4 residents were at program at the time of inspection. There were 2 staff members on site.
LPA was met at the door by June Penny, House Manager. Facility was found to be clean, orderly, and at a comfortable temperature of 68 F with all exits free from obstruction. Toxins are stored in locked cabinets. Facility has a small med room with well organized records and medications, which is locked making them inaccessible to residents and staff that do not handle medications. There was a sufficient supply of hygiene products, cleaners, and paper products for use as needed. The facility does monthly fire/safety drills. Smoke detectors are tested every month. 2 Fire extinguishers were fully charged and inspected on 03/19/23. There were 3 carbon monoxide detectors in place. Water temperature measured 109.5 F.
There are four (4) residents at the facility; three of the four are diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome so access to the kitchen is limited to staff, but snacks and meals are served on a predictable schedule for the residents. The facility provides outings on a regular basis: movies, festivals, fairs, restaurants, hikes, and library. They also have monthly meetings for residents and staff allowing residents to choose meals each month and ideas on outings, as well as other input.
No deficiencies during today's inspection.
No citations issued.
