25 | On 2/19/2021 at 11:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Laura Chavez conducted a case management inspection with Licensee Englantina Velasco. The inspection was conducted via tele-inspection due to the current State of Emergency caused by COVID-19. The inspection is in response to the licensee's request to include the garage which has been converted into a playroom as an area accessible to children in care. An updated facility sketch was received 2/16/2021. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary dated 2/19/2021 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. The licensee was supervising 2 infants and 4 preschool age children, and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. LPA toured the home including the garage/playroom. The home was observed to be clean, orderly and comfortable. The garage/playroom has been set up to accommodate children in care. There are safe toys and equipment available for children. Dry wall has been installed on walls of the garage. The garage door has not been altered in anyway. The hot water heater has been made inaccessible to children in care. The dog door installed in the door leading into an off-limits area to the outside of the home has been secured to prevent children from exiting. At this time there is no heating or air conditioning available in the playroom. The licensee understands that if any portable heating unit is used, it shall be securely screened and/or made inaccessible. The licensee understands that children shall not be allowed in the garage/playroom if children cannot be provided with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The licensee’s pediatric CPR and First Aid expire on 3/14/2022. Items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) are stored out of the reach of children. Poisons are locked in a shed located in an off-limits area on the side of the home. LPA observed a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home. This report was reviewed and discussed with the licensee. All licensing reports are public information and must be made available upon request for at least three years. The garage/playroom is approved for children in care to use.
There were no Title 22 deficiencies cited during today's inspection. |
