25 | On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Amanda Sutter and Arianna Manabat met Director for the purpose of an unannounced required annual inspection. LPAs observed 96 sleeping children supervised by eight staff. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
LPAs toured classroom space, restrooms, and outdoor play area. LPAs observed the following documents are posted: License, Parents' Rights Poster, Child’s Personal Rights, Seat Belt Law, Menu, Earthquake Preparedness Checklist, and Emergency Disaster Plan. Cleaning disinfectants, children’s medication, and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Director stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. The facility provides lunch and AM and PM snack.
LPAs observed trash bins with tight fitted lids. LPAs observed the facility’s electronic sign in and out system. Facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every six months. The last fire drill was conducted May 2023. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts, and bark is present under climbing equipment to provide sufficient cushioning. There are sufficient equipment and toys, and shaded areas are supplied by awnings. Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Director stated that children bring their own water bottles. Some classrooms use the taps in their rooms, while others use filtered water from a pitcher. LPAs discussed lead testing requirements with director.
Three staff and nine children's records were reviewed. Both children’s files and staff files were observed to be complete. There is at least one staff member present with a current CPR certificate. LPAs observed a functional carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector and fire extinguisher.
