|Licensing Program Analysts, Joelle Redding and Elise Read, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit, there were 13 children with five staff to include Licensee Mary Ann Tessary, Director John Paul Starting, Part Time Art teacher Katie Iselhardt, Teacher Carolyn Bollman and Assistant Teacher Andrenae Tlachae. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.|
LPA toured the facility. The furniture, toys, books, games and play equipment, both inside and out, are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. All rooms have adequate heating, lighting and ventilation, are clean and orderly, and are free of hazards. Any medications are kept in a safe place, inaccessible to children. Bathrooms and handwashing area is in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. The facility provides a.m. snack and children bring their own lunches. The kitchen area is clean and sanitary with food stored per regulation. Snack menus were posted and are being stored for a minimum of 30 days. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play areas are fenced and have sufficient shade and cushioning under and around play structures, swings and slides. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed. LPA observed appropriate supervision in and out of the classroom.
A sample of children's records were reviewed for admission’s agreements and staff records for qualifications. LPA discussed SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirement. Effects of Lead Exposure Handout provided for dissemination to the parents/guardians of currently and newly enrolled children. The last emergency drill was conducted in October 2018 with a new one scheduled for next week.
