On 7/17/24 at 11:00 a.m, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA), Renita Rodriguez and Mahjoba Raofi, conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPAs were greeted at the front door by licensee Janice Ford. LPA was granted entry after showing badge and identifying herself and disclosing the purpose of her visit. The two story home was toured and inspected for compliance. Applicant is using the following areas for daycare: Living room, dining room, and bathroom located on the 1st floor of the home. The kitchen, playroom, and side room on 1st floor is off limits. The garage is off limits. The entire second story and garage is off limits and inaccessible by security gate. The children are provided a safe, healthful, and comfortable environment, furnishings, and equipment. There were 4 children in care present (no infants). Janice Ford owns the home.

LPA tested the smoke alarm and carbon monoxide which is operational. There is a fire extinguisher size 2A10BC in the kitchen that meets regulations. LPA did not observe any bodies of water. Licensee stated there are no weapons or ammunition stored on the premises and LPA did not observe any.

There is a fireplace located in the playroom which is off limits and barricaded. Storage for poisons, detergents, cleaning solutions, medications are out of reach, in off limit areas, and inaccessible to children by latches and locks. There are sufficient toys and equipment available. Outdoor play area takes place in licensee front yard. Applicant is reminded constant supervision is required. The home has heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Pediatric CPR and First Aid card will expire 6/2026. Mandated Reporter Training was completed 4/2023. Applicant is reminded the training is required every 2 years. Licensee is using cell phone to meet requirements. Required documents are posted.

LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Janice Ford.

During the exit interview, the Licensee Janice Ford, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
