|(3) Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit there were 33 children present with Director and four teachers. The facility is within ratio and capacity. This program operates four separate classrooms with different functions. Children are dropped off to the playground, names are marked off on a white board for accurate count. Around 10 a.m. children have snack then combine in the music room before branching off to rotate to different classrooms, per age group. |
LPA toured the facility. The furniture, toys and play equipment, both inside and out, are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. The rooms have adequate heating, lighting and ventilation, are clean and orderly, and free of hazards. Storage cubbies are readily available and the rooms accommodate class size. Children nap on cots and each cot has it's own bedding, stored separately. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting covers and are in good repair. Children are provided am and pm snack (menu posted) and bring their own lunches. The kitchen is clean and sanitary with all food meeting nutritional values and stored appropriately. The outdoor play areas are fenced and have adequate shade. The sand is raked twice weekly to ensure adequate cushioning around the play structures. There are operational drinking fountains present and the grounds are free of hazards. Staff must place themselves to observe all areas of the playground to ensure proper supervision as it is quite large with many nooks and crannies. All staff have current CPR and First Aid certification. LPA reviewed sign in sheets, a sample of personnel records for qualifications and children's records for Emergency Information and Admission's Agreement. Isolation area is the Director's office. The last emergency drill was conducted on 8/7/15. LPA reviewed physical plant, outdoor activity space, sign in/out and incidental medical services. The facility does not currently have any children requiring Incidental Medical Services but will put a Plan of Operation in place prior to offering the services. No deficiencies are cited.
